Happiness is Still Homemade,
—
a space dedicated to encouraging families of every size, shape and configuration using my faith, family, food and fibre arts. The goal: good health and mental and emotional wholeness.
I am Reverend Cheryle Renee-Chapman Hanna, African American Baptist cleric serving in Canada. I am wife of one for 39 years, YaYa to six, mother of four by birth, and Mama Hanna countless more through faith. I am a lover of all things done in the kitchen or with a needle.
Years ago, my Gma (my mother’s mother) made a wall hanging embroidered with these words– Happiness is Still Homemade. I use those words as a challenge to preach and teach Christian scripture, bake my grandmother’s pound cake or knit a new sweater for one of Yaya’s babies be an exercise in good health, mental and emotional wholeness the goal: happiness.
This site brings together sermons for Fourth Avenue Baptist Church (YouTube at Fourth Avenue Church), children’s sermon texts (Lessons for the Heart: 52 Ways to Share God with Children, Volume 1, 2 and 3), three generations of family recipes and inspiration to be creative using fibre arts.
